Acero - Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz

Theatre 2

Course Description

Theatre 2 introduces students to the process of developing a character while helping students explore their own identity and how it relates to characters in a theatrical work.  Students will create their own characters and support them with design choices.  They will perform both comedic and dramatic scenes. Students will respond to their peers’ performances and evaluate professional productions. They will connect characters to their personal experiences as well as various social and cultural backgrounds.  In this class students will learn intermediate acting and design techniques.  They will explore history, reading, and writing by performing theatrical styles pertaining to particular areas of theatre history, reading short stories and plays, and writing a variety of reflections and responses.  Theatre 2 encourages students to explore what makes them unique and what connects them to others.  It gives them the tools to share their story through a dramatic character.
