good afternoon dragon that it should be reading with everyone again today yes, he will be logging on now will have a slow start just to ensure that everyone can see us and hear us then this video will always stay on Facebook and we'll be on website as well be about us videos music go to get started today we are going to be reading written by the author Tony Johnston and illustrated by tomie dePaola now today are illustrator day Powell that is very well has been very popular books for that part of the reason I chose this story to share with you today the title of course is the quilt story and this story you'll be sharing about something that was very special to a little girl and still while reading you can think about why it's so special to her and then so you can be thinking about Connections to yourself to your own life is there something that's very special to you that's similar to the girl in the story here we go the quilt story a quilt of course another word we might use for it is a blanket sew quilted kinds of fancy word for a very fancy blankets that you might at your house either for on your bed or just a cover-up with to stay warm a little girl's mother made the quilt to keep her warm when the snow came down long ago she's ditched the quilts by a yellow flame humming all the time she sticks with hail the falling stars and she sticks the name Abigail the right now the story of taking place a long time ago and one of the things that tells me it was very very long ago was that she stitched it by a year flame so to me that's says that they may not have yet had electricity in their house it was so long ago they were using the fire for light Abigail loved the quilt she wrapped it around her in the quiet dark and watch the winter Skies sometimes she saw falling star sometimes Abigail played in the woods near her she had to beat her dolls had tea and the quilt had tea all over it okay so that special thing we said there's something very special to this little girl that special thing in this was the the quilt and we can think about why it was special to her also maybe it was special because her mom made it for her just like maybe you had somebody make you a bracelet give you something and it's sometimes more special is somebody made it for you or gave it to you or maybe it was special just cuz it had her name on it sometimes things with our name on it make it more special my sweatshirt with dragons on it you're entitled to me let's keep reading sometimes she pretended the quilt was a gown she wore to town on her horse plop plop plop plop and it tore tell her mother stitched it up once more sometimes she played hide-and-seek with her sisters she laughed don't peek and hid under the quilt but everyone found her sometimes Abigail was sick she sneezed and sneezed then she swept under the quilt and she felt better one day Abigail Stanley moved away across wide rivers in over a rock hard Trail the quilt went to stuffed animals in trunks I'm sorry not stuffed in trunks with the blankets and clothes it kept the little girls warm from the wild wind warm from the rain warns from the Back the Night I can see just how long ago this was at this time they were driving cars they were riding in wagon that were pulled by horses and so that's why it was so important a blanket that quilts to keep them warm they built a new house in the woods Abigail's father built it with his Hatchet chop chop chop he built her a noob check check check he made her new horse to he works until curly shavings cupboard the floor and everyone sneeze and said welcome home and was glad Abigail felt sad here's the new house and again it was so long ago that their dad actually built their house out of wood built their best out of what remember Abigail with Dad new house new horse New Bag everything smelled of fresh chopped and tips everything but the quiz tell her mother rocked her as mothers do then talk to him and Abigail sells at home again under her quotes so Abigail quilt it's special to her here at her new house to the only thing that still smells normal everything else smells like new wood and it's special in part because she did get to take it with her didn't get to take many things with her but she got to special 12 I keep thinking is there something at your house that's really special to you too one day when the that was very old and very loved Abigail folded it carefully and put it in the Attic everyone forgot it was there a gray mouse came and loved the quilt too the mouse babies were born half of the quilt they grow fat and Gray in the warm stuffing when they got hungry they ate a falling star off the quilt a raccoon came in love the quotes directions Ogle Hall in a corner with her black Paws and hidden Apple there attacking and loves to quilt a patchwork at it roll down the stars and stuffing Spilled Out of the quilt like snow turn the cat curled up in the snow and turd kitty kitty call the little girl she found her cat and she sounds the quilts splashed with patterns of sun the little girl raps the quote around her and she loved it too you see continued pictures this is different little girl after all those years with the mice in there raccoons in the cats many years have passed and there's a difference little girl living in the house now and she just found so let's see why this little girl and said she loved the quilt let's see why she loved it and why it was special to her this new little girl can you make it like new she asked her mother tell her mother packs the holes she pushed fresh stuffing in she stitched long tails on the Stars to switch off the quilt again one day the little girl's family moved away across the miles and miles of pavement and sneaking gray highways they found a new house especially creamed freshly wax freshly painted the next time you can tell that when were modern times because when they moved they drove cars and a big truck on a highway you weren't using a horse and a wagon anymore they unpacked an untappd all night and everyone sneeze on cardboard last and said welcome home and was glad but this little girl felt sad to everything smelled of white paint and boxes everything but the quilts so again the quilt is special to this new little girl because when she moved it was the only thing still smells like old and still reminded her of her old house so her mother rocked her as mothers do then topped her in and she felt at home again under the quilt so here she is I'll talk to him with her quilt she moved and got to take the quote wet and so that made the quote special for this little girl also so keep thinking maybe you thought of nothing that special to you and your house also and keep making those connection why is it special to you maybe you moved one time also I got to take it with you make it special cuz it had your name on it because your mother made it for you or somebody made it for you get the
